Elf x TIME

Inspired by Buddy the Elf’s whimsical costume, the limited edition slippers featured a stunning emerald suede upper with a yellow reindeer embossment. A clever design in the form of a bright red feather that served as a Christmas tree ornament was prominently notched onto the laces. Buddy the Elf’s famous quote "Treat every day like Christmas" was etched in a golden font on one side - a sentiment that perfectly aligned with TIME Slippers’ brand philosophy of owning every moment, no matter how ordinary. Simply slip the feather off of the lace and hang it on the tree for years to come.

We needed to connect the product with the movie in a way that held true to the overall sentiment of the film. A difficult task with a comedy loaded with one-liners and zings. Research into the films origins and inspirations showed that the films success was not only because of the comedic elements, but also the timeless and youthful charm of the main character. Down on his luck and feeling left out, Buddy the Elf maintains an innocence while navigating the big city and trying to find his dad. It’s the unwavering optimism and naivete he displays that makes this move wholesome, and ultimately earned it a place among Christmas classics. This project was a lot of fun for design and marketing, and Jon Favreau loved the product (pic of Jon wearing the product at a live event below).
