YuB is a prolific youtuber, and was a customer of ours for a few years. One day he ordered a pair and I threw a note in with his slippers when they shipped saying “Hey, let’s collab”. He reached out and we ended up hitting it off. He was hilarious and had some great ideas for a collaborative design. He is an ADHD-afflicted jack of all trades. His mind is fast and doesn’t stay put for long. He’s a wizard with a camera and editing software (he edits hours of video using a trackpad and no mouse. Truly incredible to see). He’s quick witted and doesn’t do anything the “traditional” way. He’s also a talented musician, so it needed to be a little bit punk and crunchy while still having a clean overall aesthetic. We went back and forth for a few weeks honing the look until we had something we liked. I took it to the factory for development and we began working out the kinks. The samples came back and were almost exactly what we had envisioned from the beginning. A black and white warped logo for the side panels and the heel. The outsole had contrasting stitching to connect the upper as well. They looked very clean on foot. I flew to his home in Texas for the shoot. It’s one of my favorite projects, and was a great success: the collab sold out in 4 hours. Below are some images from the project.
